Chimney scaffolding
Chimney stacks on South London's Victorian, Edwardian and 1930s homes need regular repointing, new flaunching and flashing, and sometimes rebuilding or removal. We build safe, compact scaffolds up to the stack so the work can be done properly.

How chimney scaffolding works
A chimney scaffold usually rises from the ground at the gable or front of the house to roof level, then continues up to a boarded platform around the stack with guardrails on every side. On a terrace where the stack sits mid-roof, we build a platform that reaches it across the roof slope, with the load spread so it doesn't damage the tiles.
Because the scaffold is narrow and tall, ground conditions and ties matter. We assess both at the free site survey. On period houses with bay fronts, we design around the bay so it isn't loaded or damaged.
Do it at the same time as the roof
If you're having roof work done, it's usually cheaper to sort the chimney from the same scaffold. Ask us about roof scaffolding and our partner offer of 30% off roofing with All Fix Roofing Services.
Questions about chimney scaffolding
How long does a chimney scaffold stay up?
Repointing a stack might only need the scaffold for a few days. A rebuild takes longer. We agree the hire period in the quote and can extend it.
Can you scaffold a chimney in the middle of a terrace?
Yes. We reach it from the front or rear with a platform designed to sit safely on the roof, and talk to you about any neighbour access needed.
Will the scaffold go on the pavement?
If the house fronts straight onto the pavement it may have to. We apply for the council licence for you.
