Scaffolding hire raises a lot of questions about cost, timescales, permits and access, especially if you haven't hired scaffolding before. These are the ones we get asked most by homeowners and businesses across Wallington, Sutton, Croydon, Carshalton and Purley.
What is scaffolding used for?
Scaffolding gives builders, roofers, painters and other trades safe access to work at height. It's most often used for extensions, re-roofing, repointing, guttering, and general repairs and maintenance.
How much does scaffolding cost?
Cost depends on the size and height of the scaffold, how long you need it, and access at the property. Rather than guess, we give you a free, no-obligation quote based on your actual job after a site survey.
How long does scaffolding stay up?
Usually for as long as the building work is ongoing. We agree a timescale with you before we start, and can extend it if the job runs on.
Do I need a permit for scaffolding?
If the scaffolding will stand on a public pavement or road, yes. A licence from the council (or TfL on red routes) is required, and we apply for it as part of the job. Read our scaffolding licence guide for the detail.
Will I still be able to access my home or business?
Yes. We design the scaffold to keep doors, driveways and entrances usable wherever possible, and flag any temporary restrictions before work starts.
How quickly can you put scaffolding up?

How should I prepare my home before the scaffold goes up?
